The Valley of the Kings is the royal necropolis of the New Kingdom pharaohs — a desert valley on Luxor's West Bank where more than sixty tombs were cut deep into the rock and painted with dazzling scenes to guide the dead into the afterlife.

Your standard ticket lets you into a rotating selection of open tombs; descending the sloping corridors reveals ceilings of stars and walls of gods still vivid after three thousand years. Premium tickets add the finest chambers — Seti I, Tutankhamun and Ramesses VI among them.

This is where Tutankhamun's treasure was found in 1922, and standing inside a pharaoh's burial chamber remains one of Egypt's most powerful moments.
