RED SEA RIVIERABeach
Mahmya Island
27.1750, 33.9450
Mahmya Island is Hurghada's eco-minded beach club, set on a protected stretch of Giftun's shoreline where the emphasis is on keeping the reef pristine. It feels a notch calmer and greener than the busier day-trip spots nearby.
The draw is that you can snorkel straight off the sand into a healthy coral garden, no boat transfer needed once you arrive, with reef fish, corals and clear warm water within easy reach. Back on shore there are loungers, shaded palm huts and a proper buffet lunch, making a full relaxed day of it.
Because the site is managed as a conservation area, the reef here tends to be in better shape than at the most trafficked beaches. Choose it for snorkelling and a slower, more sustainable island day.
Know before you go
Mahmya is an all-day organised excursion with lunch included, so book ahead in peak season as daily visitor numbers are capped.
