Giftun Island is Hurghada's snorkelling headline — a protected island ringed by shallow coral gardens and the famous white sandbar of Orange Bay, where the water glows turquoise over the reef.
A day yacht carries you out across the Red Sea to anchor above coral teeming with butterflyfish, parrotfish and the occasional turtle, with time to swim, snorkel and laze on the powder-soft sand between stops. The reefs are shallow and calm enough for first-timers and children, yet vivid enough to thrill anyone.
It is the classic Hurghada sea day: bright water, easy snorkelling and a beach that looks lifted from a postcard.

Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a rash top, as the open-water sun and reflection off the sand burn fast even on a short swim.
