Egyptian Museum

The century-old Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square remains one of the world's greatest hoards of antiquity, packing some 120,000 pieces into its faded neoclassical halls. Even after the Grand Egyptian Museum drew off many headline objects, the sheer density here is overwhelming: mummies, colossal statues, sarcophagi and cabinets crammed with jewellery and everyday relics.
